A project partly funded by the government of the United Kingdom aims to produce sustainable aviation fuel by directly capturing carbon dioxide from the air, pairing it with green hHydrogen and creating fuel using nuclear-generated electricity. This SAF would save over 90% of emissions compared to conventional aviation fuel.

This innovation comes as U.K. and European regulators are increasing mandates on flight operators to use an increased mix of sustainable fuel.
